After spending nearly three days in a row in Hall H last July through the classification of wheat and the weeds of the geek world, I admit that I was one of the first to defend the preview image as a Kick-Ass climax of the 2009 season from San Diego Comic-Con, because, well, it kicked ass. It seemed tailor-made for comic fans, the holding of his fantasies about becoming masked avengers, while also offering enough foul-mouthed, visceral action to stop even the most jaded viewers in their tracks. And of course, Chloe Moretz is Hit Girl ', a potty mouth preteen destined to become a rod of lightning pop culture thanks to its ability to equal four-letter insults and kicks go flying.
Unfortunately, as a feature film, Kick-Ass is a comic book come to life too, but not much else. A faithful recreation of the rhythms of the narrative episodic fun role, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita 2008, the series gives greater scope to the pieces shown in the clips and trailers, but never found the cohesion clarity or dramatic enough to become a successful film.
